A teary Kennedy Boboye confirmed his Heartland exit following the Naze Millionaires 3-1 home win against Remo Stars on Thursday night.

Boboye took charge of the five-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions last month following the sacking of Christian Obi.

Heartland were winless in nine games before he assumed duty as head coach of the side.

The Owerri team, however, recorded three wins, one draw and three defeats under his tutelage.

Boboye has been asked to step aside by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, who has ordered Obi’s reinstatement.

Boboye was in tears after his side’s victory against Remo Stars and dedicated the win to the fans.

“This victory is for the fans. Imo state is where I have gotten the most support in my managerial career. I won’t be here for the next game.

“I wish them well, this is a place where the people had me at heart,” Boboye, who won the NPFL title with Plateau United and Akwa United in the past, told reporters.

“The number one citizen of the state made a pronouncement and this is my last game as manager.

“Everything the players have done for me they should do for Christian Obi. He was the one who recruited them. I have told the players to give him maximum support,” he added.

Heartland currently occupy 17th position on the NPFL table with 16 points from 16 games.
